Ishtiyaq Ahmad Srinagar, Nov 29: Authorities on Tuesday sounded a high alert across Jammu and Kashmir after twin attacks at Nagrota and Samba on Monday; while as all security agencies are maintaining a close coordination to thwart the nefarious designs of terrorists. Reliable sources told Early Times that soon after the attack at Nagrota attack, which claimed lives of seven army men including two officers, an alert was sounded across the state. "All the security agencies, Police, Army, CRPF and the intelligence have been asked to remain alert to thwart any more strikes by the terrorists, especially in Kashmir," sources said. Sources in the security agencies said that it has been observed that after every big strike, terrorists may try to strike again. "You never know, it can be their strategy to strike at many places at a time as seen in Nagrota and Samba area of Jammu region today," they said. Sources said that all the security agencies are maintaining a close coordination and a tight vigil is being maintained to keep an eye on the suspects. Talking to reporters in south Kashmir, Special Director General of Police Law and Order and Coordination Dr S P Vaid said that they are ready to deal with any challenge from the terrorists. "All forces are on alert across J&K," he said. Sources said that additional deployment of forces was being made on the highways-Srinagar-Jammu and Srinagar-Baramulla while Road Opening Parties (ROPs) of Army and CRPF were frequently making rounds. They said all the security installations including airports, military installations, police headquarters, army hospitals etc, are also on the high alert. "Security has been heightened at all the important security installations across JK in the wake of twin attacks in Jammu," sources said. Alert sounded in Vaishnodevi Meanwhile authorities on Tuesday sounded an alert and stepped up security in and around Katra, the base camp of Mata Vaishnodevi cave shrine in Trikuta hills in Reasi district. "We have sounded an alert. Security has been beefed up at Katra and other areas of the shrine after the terror attack at army camp in Nagrota," a police officer said. Police and security men have been asked to remain vigilant, he said. Katra town, which is nearly 30 km from Nagrota, is thronged by over one crore pilgrims annually. "Security along the shrine track and around it has been stepped up," he said, adding "Checking and frisking has been increased and people should cooperate with us," he added. |
