Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 29: After declaring 21 employees as deadwood, the government has asked all the administrative heads to urgently prepare department-wise lists of corrupt officials, ET has learnt. Sources said that the government has asked HoDs to prepare separate list of those officers, who are repeatedly indulging in corrupt practices and are not ready to mend their ways besides the list of deadwoods. "Governor has asked the top officials to urgently prepare department-wise lists of corrupt officials," sources added. One of the cabinet ministers in the PDP-BJP government wishing not to be named told early TIMES that the Chief Minister Mehbbooba Mufti has also directed all the administrative heads to initiate action against anyone who indulged in the corrupt practices. "The senior officials have been told to keep a check on junior officials and to ensure that there is no corruption in their departments. Government will terminate those found involved in corrupt practices. It is one thing we will not tolerate," the Minister quoting CM said. Sources said that the high-level panel headed by Chief Secretary which was constituted by the government to examine the corruption cases against the tainted officers is also likely to meet soon. "The panel will assess the employees who are habitual of corruption and other unlawful activities," sources maintained. The committee is headed by the chief Secretary and the other members of committee are Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Principal Secretary, Home, Commissioner Secretary, General Administration Department, and the Secretary, Law. It is pertinent to mention here that on July 1, the government had terminated the services of 63 officials of whom 25 were allegedly caught red-handed by the SVO while accepting bribe. The GAD in last week issued individual termination orders to all 21 Government employees giving them compulsory retirement by invoking Article 226 against them. However, the government didn't release the list of the employees declared as deadwood to the media. Instead, it directly dispatched termination notices individually to all the 21 officers. |
