YCET organizes Extension Lectures on Anti- Ragging, Drug Abuse

JAMMU, Feb 16: Department of Applied Sciences organized an Extension Lectures for the students of Second semester on the topic "Curbing the menace of Ragging in AICTE approved technical institutions and Drug Abuse". The Chief Guest of the programme was Sandeep Gupta Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) and Guest of honour was Sumit Sharma, SHO Domana.
The two sessions were conducted on this day. The First session was on curbing the menace of Ragging in the campus and this session was taken by Sandeep Gupta. Ragging is a crime which has ruined countless innocent lives and careers. In order to eradicate it, YCET has taken an initiative to remove this curse from the society as it has been turned to a nightmare to the students.
During his lecture Sandeep Gupta familiarized the students with the prevention and prohibition of Ragging in the Technical institutions and to eliminate the scourge of ragging whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
He also added that based on the directions of Supreme Court, it is mandatory for every technical institution to ensure that no fresher becomes the victim of the ragging.
The second session was conducted by Sumit Sharma, SHO Domana on Drug Abuse. He addressed the students that Drug abuse is a serious problem throughout the world. In many countries the situation is simply catastrophic, as people die from drug abuse and psychotropic substances on a daily basis.
