Mohammad Sarfaraz Early Times Report barmulla, Feb 16: Security forces on Friday called off a search operation in Palhalan village of this north Kashmir district after the militants managed to escape from their cordon. According to sources that, "a joint team of security forces had cordoned off Palhallan village in Pattan area after they had received an inputs about the presence of militants there. The entire area was cordoned off and a massive search and combing operation was launched to nab the militants from the area, said sources. Sources told early times that, soon after the area was sealed, security forces launched search operation, as they were raging in a search party was attacked by the militants who had taken a shelter in tehe residential house in Palhallan area. The situation was very tense and forces in large numbers were deployed in and around the village, however local youth resorted to stone pelting and clashes ensued, sources informed. Meanwhile a top police official said that, there were intelligence reports about the presence of militants, after which the area was cordoned off. For a brief period there was an exchange of fire between militants and forces, but unfortunately militants managed to escape from the area, said police official. He said that, basically there were scores of people, especially youth who took to streets and pelted stones at the forces to help the militants to escape from the area. |
