How long it' II exist - J&K QAUGMIRE
3/4/2018 10:30:07 PM
R.B. Suri

Having seen and experienced the on going quagmire existing in the Kashmir valley since 1989, the question arises in the minds of every citizen of this land as to how far it will go on like this. Are the State and Central Governments are not really interested to get rid of the same?
It is a matter of concern for all of us in this nation. Certainly an in depth study is required to be made with respect to all the ill happenings occurred in the past in the valley for which the entire country is suffering like anything. For all this nonsense, no body is owning the responsibility which is a matter of shame for all of us .
Sooner or later such like quagmire is to end.
Pertinent to mention here that prior to 1987, the situation in the valley was not so bad. It was calm and very peaceful because of the fact that there were antinational elements operating across the state in the shape one organization or the other. The situation started taking the bad shape after the Assembly elections 1987 when there was a great resentment against the National Conference Rule in the state of Jammu and Kashmir which according to the then Muslim United Front (MUF) the elections were rigged . People under MUF fought the said elections and were given the tough time to resist the then government tactics to rig the elections. The movement of MUF gave birth to Syed Salaudin ( earlier Mohd. Yusaf) who contested the said elections from the Amirakadal Constituency also. Having won the said elections , Dr. Farooq Abdullah formed the government in the state and started facing the difficulties in dealing with the growing militancy which adopted a very big volcanic stage in January 1990 and the entire valley was burning at that time.
People were demanding total freedom from India. There was lawlessness every where. Law and order machinery was broken down totally and later the Governor Rule was imposed and Governor Jagmohan took over the reigns of the government in the state. Under the Governor's Rule and with the passage of time, the situation was improved a lot resulting which elections to the State Assembly were held in 1996 again. Dr. Abdullah came into power once again. He ruled the state up to 2002. During the intervening period, militancy was controlled a little bit and People's Democratic Party (PDP) was formed by the former Home Minister of India Mufti Mohd.Syed. It worked in the general masses of the valley and made the roots in the field and when the elections to the State Assembly was held in 2002, PDP and Indian National Congress (INC) remained as victorious and their Coalition Government in the state was formed in the state. As per the PDP / Congress Alliance, for the first three years , Mufti Mohd. Syed ruled the sate as the Chief Minister up to 2005 and he handed over the charge as the Chief Minister to Ghulam Nabi Azad who governed the state up to June 2008. Due to the state wide Amarnath land agitation, Governor's Rule was imposed in the state and the present Governor N.N.Vohra took over the reigns of the state of Jammu and Kashmir under his command and control, Under his control only the Assembly elections were held in the once again in J&K in 2008 and National Conference won the elections and got maximum number of seats and formed a Coalition Government in J&K State with the Indian National Congress (INC) and Omar Abdullah was sworn in as the 11th Chief Minister of Jammu on 5th January 2009 He resigned from the post on 23-12-2002 to concentrate on his party work. In 2014-2015. Assembly elections were held in the state and PDP remained the victorious in securing 28 assembly seats in Kashmir Division and on the contrary BJP remained as victorious in securing 25 assembly seats in Jammu Division. it is a matter of history now that the two political parties having the different ideologies joined their hands together and under Agenda of Alliance (AOA) the Coalition Governed of PDP and BJP was formed in the state in 2015 and Mufti Mohammned Sayeed took over as the Chief Minister and remained as the head of the captioned government up to Jan 7, 2016 as he was expired after his brief illness a New Delhi .Kashmir unrest has attained a volcanic stage as on today. Militants organizations in the valley aided and funded liberally by the Pakistan rulers. Who are acting very deadly causing the heavy losses to the Indian Army. J&K has become a quagmire of all this non sense. How long it will go as it is . It is a serious matter for all of us in this country . There is a need to probe in depthly as to who is the responsible for all this . Authorities at the helm of affairs had allowed it to grow more and more. Thousand cores of rupees have just gone in waste. Kashmir is burning these days because of non seriousness attitude of the State and the Central Governments since independence. They have made Kashmir as a mess .After 1987, Jammu and Kashmir never remained stable and there always remained the uncertainty and almost total lawlessness as prevailed therein the state. All over quagmire existed and is still on thereby leaving no scope for the stability and development of the state . The militants outfits and the separatists are very much busy in destroying the peaceful atmosphere in the valley particularly at the behest of the neighboring country Pakistan .Releasing the stone palters on the eve of holy IDD by the state administration was not a well considered and judicious decision . It was a decision without application of mind properly. It gave wrong signals in the field and in fact encouraged the pro Pak elements in the valley who got the new vigour and strength for the furtherance of their nefarious activities in Kashmir . They always keep their eyes on disturbing the peaceful atmosphere in the valley . This has added fuel to the fire .By doing this act, the state government was expecting the dividends out of it but surprisingly it paid the price of 37 valuable human souls and several others injured are being treated medically in different hospitals of the valley . It is really painful .Earlier the separatists and the pro PAK elements had lost the ground in the valley . With the killing of Burhan , they got the new vigour and strength to carrying on their further activities . Now the situation in the valley has reached the stage like it was during 1989- 90 when the militancy was at peak and all time high . No governmental functioning was there at all and the militant outfits were at the helm of affairs of the administration then . The Union Government should adopt the principle of " A stitch in time saves nine . " and remain stick to it lest the situation worsens further in the valley . With the dreaded militant Burhan Wani's killing the valley came on the edge and wide spread protests and demonstrations put the valley on cross roads . To settle the Kashmir tangle much was done but all in futility. But now the present National Government led by Narender Modi is very much serious to clinch the Kashmir tangle once for all at the earliest possible .To set the things right and in order some cohesive actions are required to be taken by the government to end it without loosing any further time on this score as much time has gone just in waste . Only way out to end the same the liberation of POK is must There is no other option to it as also the present government at the centre is already having the mandate of the Lok Sabha to do so in compliance to its Resolution adopted for the specific purpose . Pertinent to mention here that the present Coalition Government of PDP and BJP has already lost its credibility among the masses of the state . It is very much advisable that that the present quagmire shoul not be allowed to go on as it is today and it should be plugged immediately. Its existence in infinity would spoil the nation definitely . Therefore it is the need of the hour to get rid of the same, Immediate measure be taken militarily to save the situation well in time because of the fact that all actions on the civil fronts have not yielded any fruitful results so far .
