After PDP's threat, BJP takes 'U-turn', says never demanded CBI probe | | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report
Anantnag, Mar 4: A day after PDP Minister threatened to end the alliance with Bharatiya Janta Party, saffron party on Sunday took a 'U-turn' and said it never demanded a CBI probe into Kathua rape-and-murder case and neither sided with the accused. "People were angry, so our two ministers went there to pacify them because BJP never distances itself from the people and society," BJP General Secretary (organization) Ashok Koul told Early Times on Sunday while defending the presence of two BJP ministers in a rally organized by Hindu Ekta Manch. BJP leader Ashok Koul was in Brakpora-Anantnag to attend a party function. He alleged that opposition parties have created such an environment in the area that it became imperative for the BJP legislators and our two ministers to visit the area and pacify the protesters. "We have condemned the incident and want stern punishment to the accused," he added. Kould said that they trust Jammu and Kashmir Police and his party never demanded CBI probe into the incident. "It's people who are demanding CBI probe not BJP," he said. The BJP leader said that ministers of his party also visited Nowshera-Jammu only to cool down the tempers of local people. It may be recalled that PDP Minister Altaf Bukhari on Saturday said his party would end the alliance with the BJP if it fails to deliver justice in the rape and murder case of an eight-year-old girl in Jammu's Kathua district January this year. |
