JDCA organises 'Salute & Tribute to Sunjwan Martyrs' cricket tourney

Jammu, Mar 4: Two legends of Jammu Cricket, Vijay Sabarwal & Sanjay Sharma today inaugurated "Salute & Tribute to Sunjawan Martyrs" Jammu District Rural Cricket Tournament in Parade Ground, Jammu. Jammu District Cricket Alliance (JDCA), a wing of Parade Sports Association, in its maiden venture organized this Open Cricket Tournament of the Jammu Rural Cricket Clubs to offer Salute & Tribute to the brave soldiers who were recently martyred in Sunjawan, Jammu Army camp attack. The tournament aims at hunting the cricket talent in the rural youth of Jammu district. Talented players from this tournament shall be selected for coaching in Parade Ground, Jammu by the renowned cricketers of J&K who are the active members of Parade Sports Association, Jammu. Harsh Nayyar & Kapil Dev Mahajan are the organizing secretaries of this tournament. All the members of Parade Sports Association, the members of Laxmi Cricket Club and other dignitaries were present on this occasion.
Winning toss, Rising Warriors of Udhaywala choose to bat first and made 144 runs for all out in stipulated 25 overs. Sonu Zutshi was the top scorer and made 27, Parvinder Singh 20 runs, Vishal 18 runs K. P. Singh 19 runs & Vikrant made 14 runs. Vinod of Singh Cricket Club, Akhnoor took 4 wickets, Arush Chander took 2 wickets while Sham, happy, Narinder & Suresh one wicket each. Singh Cricket Club chased the target in 14.2 overs and won the match by 3 wickets. Sumit was the top scorer who made 56 runs with 5 boundaries and 3 sparkling sixes. Manik Sharma made 32 runs with 5 boundaries and 1 six. Happy 13 runs with 3 boundaries and Govil Sharma 12 runs.
From Rising Warriors Rajinder Sharma was the most successful bowler who took 3 wickets, Ashish took 2 wickets while Vishal & shish took one wicket each.
Umpires of this match were Ashok Gupta and Rajesh Jaitly. Tomorrow's match is between Krishna Cricket Club, Akhnoor and Lions Cricket Club, Bohri.
