Katra, Mar 18: What can be more disgusting thing on the part local administration that huge heaps of garbage has been welcoming the devotee of Mata Vaishno Devotees at Katra on the commencement of sacred Navratras, creating nuisance everywhere.
Despite being aware about the commencement of Navratras, the local Administration and Municipal Committee Katra has totally failed to make cleanliness in the Katra town. Mounds of garbage have been presenting bad picture of the town and foul smell emanating from them creating inconvenience while passing through them.
Sources told Early Times that the garbage is generated by the local shopkeepers, who throw it along the road which remain unattended for days due to negligence of local municipal committee and at times people set these heaps of garbage on fire to dispose them off but on the contrary the smoke emanated from piles of garbage make the life of devotees passing through them.
"It seems that local authorities are unaware of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, which has been launched vigorously across the county to make the nation clean and these agencies are acting as mute spectators. From Katra Bus Stand to Ban Ganga road, Main bazaar Katra, Kashmir Road at Counter Number 2 just before the Municipal Committee office, huge heaps of garbage are lying unattended," they alleged.
Executive Officer Municipal Committee and Deputy Commissioner Reasi could not be contacted despite repeated call to them for their versions. |
