BJP’s Kashmir policy hurting nation, Jammu and Ladakh | Glaring contradiction | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 18: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh yet again has asserted that no power in the world can take Kashmir away from India and if required, forces are capable of crossing the border to protect the country’s territorial integrity. “Kashmir is, was and will be ours always,” Rajnath Singh said Saturday in Noida, UP. Fair enough. He made a right noise. Kashmir is an integral part of India and its separation from India or its annexation by Pakistan would mean third communal partition of India and this the nation cannot afford at any cost. Separation of Kashmir from India would mean a license to other India-haters in other parts of the country, including NE, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and so on, to replicate Kashmir. The Union Home Minister has done well to say what he said. However, in the same vein, he gave everyone to understand that the Union Government was working for a permanent solution to Kashmir and to achieve this objective, the Government of India has appointed an interlocutor, Dineshwar Sharma. “The government (of India) is keen on finding a permanent solution to Kashmir, which has been the bone of contention between the two countries (india and Pakistan) for quite some time. We want lasting solution to the Kashmir problem and we are open to speaking to any party. To resolve the issue, the government-appointed interlocutor and former Intelligence Bureau chief Dineshwar Sharma has invited people from all sections for discussion,” he said. There was contradiction in what the Union Home Minister said. On the one hand, he gave the nation to understand that Jammu & Kashmir shall always remain a part of India. On the other hand, he talked about a permanent solution to Kashmir. It would have been in the fitness of things, had he reflected on the nature of problem in Kashmir and explained away what he meant by permanent solution to Jammu & Kashmir. Earlier, PM Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah had also made a similar statement and caused confusion in the minds of the concerned citizens, especially the people of Jammu and Ladakh, internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus and Hindu-Sikh refugees from Pakistan – all committed Indians. The Union Home Minister’s latest statement has only added to the worries of people with some describing it as “an attempt to pander to separatist and communalists in Kashmir” and terming it “Kashmir-centric”. “The BJP’s Kashmir policy is no different from that of the Congress. It is only hurting the nation and Jammu and Ladakh. It’s just the replica of the Congress policy. It’s just Kashmir-centric and one-community-centric disastrous policy,” opined one serious J&K-watcher.
