JKNPP protests outside DGP residence
3/18/2018 10:31:21 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 18: Seeking immediate arrest of all culprits involved in the alleged murderous assault on JKNPP Chairman Harshdev Singh and his wife, hundreds of Panther Party workers including activists of Mahila Panthers today held a protest outside the residence of DGP J&K.
The protesters were raising slogans 'BJP ke gundon ko giraftar karo', BJP Jammu ki awaz ko dabana band karo', 'Mahila par hamla karne walon ko arrest karo'.
Addressing media persons, Harsh Dev Singh said that he had been receiving numerous threats of physical elimination from BJP leaders, the details of which were repeatedly provided to Police but of no consequences.
He said that a highly biased and Saffronized administration in District Udhampur had refused to take cognizance of dozens of complaints filed against the notorious elements of BJP who were openly indulging in goondaism with public announcements to kill the Panther leaders.
He said that even the video recordings and documentary evidence provided to Police authorities were disregarded and thrown into the dustbin at the behest of their political masters. He said that yesterday's episode was a part of the well planned conspiracy hatched by BJP workers in connivance with some Police officers on the directions of their political bosses.
Giving details of the 'murderous' assault on him and his wife Manju Singh, the NPP Chairman said that the BJP workers had laid the ambush at Kuh Nala which fell on the way to Chanunta and Upper Khail where he was to address public meetings. He said that two vehicles carrying around 16-17 people armed with lathis and weapons had departed from Ramnagar town at around 9 AM yesterday with full knowledge of the Police authorities. He said that he had informed the SSP Udhampur about the criminal intentions of the said notorious elements who included kingpins.
Singh said that he reached Kuh Nala at around 11 AM when the said notorious gang of criminals stopped his vehicle and pounced upon him hurling abuses and threats of silencing his voice for ever and attacked his wife. "And despite the fact that it takes only 20 minutes from Ramnagar to reach the said venue, the Ramnagar Police did not turn up till 11:40 a.m thus giving ample time to the offenders to execute their design. He said that the attack was planned on the previous day in PWD Dak Bungalow Ramnagar with Police having full knowledge of the same acting as an accomplice to please their political bosses", he said.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Yashpaul Kundal, Adv. Bansi Lal Sharma, Manju Singh, Jagdev Singh, Gagan Pratap Singh, Shyam Gorkha, Parshottam Parihar, Adv. Kesar Praveen, Anita, Neeraj, Jyoti, Neelam, Rajeshwar Sambyal, Arun Khajuria, Khajoor Singh, Mohinder Singh, Vishav Singh, Rajesh Gondhi, Satvir Singh Manhas, Capt. Narottam Singh, KK Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Brijender Singh, Rakesh Verma, Rakesh Bhagat besides others.
