The main concern of all the speakers was regarding deteriorating health of the earth soil due to excessive use of toxic chemical fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides. Speaking on the occasion, S. Prem Singh exhorted the farmer community to use the toxic chemical pesticides, fertilizers and hormonal growth regulators with a caution as the excessive of these toxic chemicals fertilizers & pesticides sprays have not only spoilt the health of our earth soil but also contaminated ground water & adding up to environmental pollution with danger to human health badly. Professor Harun Naik warned that already we have seen highly depleting species of vultures, birds and crows. Even honey bees which are required for pollination purpose are vanishing away fast. Now, this is high time to go for reversal in agricultural patterns from the Agricultural Package of the Green Revolution back to the traditional system of Indian Agricultural Farming. Retired Director Floriculture K K Sharma expressed his concern over proposed acquisition of agricultural land for construction of ring roads in J&K and also appealed authorities to ask the NHAI, R&B or other executing agencies of road projects to take utmost precaution in disposal of building construction or hills cutting wastes including boulders and avoid throwing such material down the hills which not only pollute the otherwise green environment but also become cause of lungs and other breathing related diseases among the local villagers. |
