Jammu, Mar 21: Rheumatology Foundation & Department of Rheumatology KG Medical University, Lucknow, UP India organised a National level brainstorming meet at New Delhi on "Propelling Rheumatology to Primary Care'. Dr Debashish Danda- President Indian Rheumatology Association, Dr Rohini Handa- Former President IRA, Dr KM Mahinderanath- Former President IRA, Dr Arvind Chopra- National Co-ordinator COPCORD, Dr MLB Bhat- Vice Chancellor and Dr SK Dass-Chairman and Head of Department of Rheumatology, KG Medical University, Lucknow, UP, Dr Liyakat Gauri, and many more Countrywide reputed rheumatologist were invited and participated in this meet. Dr Annil Mahajan well known rheumatologist and Professor and Head Department of Medicine, GMC Jammu who been pioneer along with other experts in conducting and generating the country wide data related to burden of Arthritis and joint pain had also the honour to be invited in the said important national meeting. These experts including Dr Mahajan impressed that common rheumatological disorders like osteoarthritis, Low back ache, Neck Pain, Fibromyalgia, Non specific arthalgias are far more prevalent than the inflammatory arthritis and concluded that they require immediate attention and redressal. Dr Mahajan in his invited talk on Low backache highlighted that this is one of the most common rheumatological disorder and almost 80% of population suffers at one point of time, compromising and affecting their day to day working and thus should not be ignored specially if it persist more than 4- 6 week and if it is associated with weakness, nuro-deficeit, bladder and bowel disturbance etc. |
