Jammu, Mar 30: In a glaring example of slow process of filling up vacancies, the government has released selection list of 31 Class IV posts after six years. As per details available with Early Times, 16 posts of orderly, 12 posts of Process Server and 3 posts of Sweepers/Chowkidar were advertised by the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar on 6-2-2012. Applications were sought from candidates with minimum qualification of 10th pass and maximum 12th pass. More than 2000 unemployed youths had applied for these posts, of which around 300 were shortlisted for interviews. After delay of two years, the then chairman issued corrigendum to this notification vide No. DCK/SQ/1607, dated 20-10-2014 and fixed the qualification weightage that includes 60 marks for 10th pass, plus 20 additional marks for candidates having 10+2 qualification while 20 marks were kept reserve for viva. The then Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar fixed Dak Bungalow Kishtwar as venue for conducting the interviews. Accordingly, shortlisted candidates were asked to appear for the viva based interview on October 31, 2014 and November 1, 2014, but to the disappointment of many unemployed youths, these interviews were cancelled at last momement. After assuming the charge of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, incumbent DC Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana after coming to know about the matter expedited the process and conducted the interviews from 19-2-2018 to 21-2-2018. Speaking to Early Times, many candidates hailed the efforts of DC Rana for expediting the selection process. They said they were feeling relieved of unnecessary mental trauma through which they were undergoing due to much delay during which more than five Deputy Commissioners served in Kishtwar. "The work on 850 MW Rattle power project is abandoned for last five years. Hope DC Kishtwar along with JKSPDC headed by Dr. Shah Faesal will take solid steps for restarting the work," said a group of unemployed youths who demanded that state owned J&K Power Development Corporation should take the lead in restoring the construction of abandoned Rattle power project by taking the work into their own hands so that they could get job opportunities. It is pertinent to mention that Early Times highlighted the issue twice in its 30-12-2016 and 18-6-2017 editions. |
