| Congress stages protest against municipality, district administration | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Apr 2: Congress leader and INTUC State Secy Sumeet Magotra today held protest against Municipality Department and District Administration for dumping of garbage and dead animals in Tawi river.
National highway was blocked for several hours and departmental garbage vehicles who were going to dump the garbage were forced to return back by the protesters. While addressing Magotra told that from last 8years department is using tawi river as a dumping station due to which the TAWI is getting polluted and he also highlighted that the tawi river is the main source of fresh water supply to the Udhampur town due to which people are forced to drink polluted water which is the main reason for some deadly diseases like cancer. He also added that people people of the town are fooled by the department by making false promises that solid waste management plant is almost complete and will be functional by next month.
The ceo of the department and tehsildar rushed to the spot and gave a proper assurance and handed over the completion reports of the plant. Only after the proper assurance the nation highway was open for vehicular movement. |
