Principal turns Psychology lab into residential quarter, illegally claims HRA Akshay Azad 4/6/2018 10:55:49 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 6: The Principal of Government Degree College Billawar has allegedly occupied a laboratory of Psychology department for the last over two years, converting it into his official residence but he has also been drawing Home Rent Allowance (HRA) from government. The students have written to Principal Secretary Higher Education department, demanding necessary action against the erring Principal. The Principal has however denied all the allegations leveled by the students. Few days back the students of GDC Billwar had lodged a protest demonstration in the college premises and had handed over a complaint to Tehsildar Billwar, alleging encroachment of psychology lab by the principal. "He has converted this laboratory into his official residences and has also been drawing HRA to the tune of over Rs. 10,000 which is misappropriation of public money", a student pleading anonymity alleged and demanded that the principal must be booked and the illegally drawn HRA must be recovered from him. "Due to shortage of class rooms, some of the classes have been conducted in the Sports room as well as in the canteen of the college but Principal has occupied the Psychology lab", the students alleged. In the letter the students have also alleged that some anti-social and anti-institutional activities have been going on in the college, which needed to be stopped. Denying all the allegations, Principal of College Prof. Suresh Kumar said that he was residing in the house of his relatives at Billawar. He further said that there was no psychology laboratory in the college, as claimed by the students.
