BJP presses panic button after Bar Association takes Jammu's issues | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 7: Fearing that J&K High Court Bar Association would take lead in taking up Jammu's issue, BJP today pressed panic button and came in the support of lawyers after maintaing a silence for five days. Credible sources said that BJP leadership is worried over shrinking party's base in Jammu and growing peoples' anger in the areas, which were considered as party strongholds. Bar Association has further added woes of the party because of its announcement to intensify struggle for justice with Jammu. The eroding base in areas, which were once considered as the citadels of the saffron party, is also a matter of concern for the BJP. The BJP leadership has reasons to be worried because party workers are facing wrath of the masses, especially in Jammu province, for its "meek surrender" before the PDP in taking policy decisions. Today BJP chief spokesman Sunil Sethi addressed a press conference and said that party is seriously concerned about all the burning local issues and is committed for their early resolution. He said that BJP supports the issues raised by the advocates and certain members of the civil society except the Rassana issue since it is subjudice. Sethi said that BJP was the first political party to raise the issue of Rohangiyas because it is convinced that they pose a security threat and are prone to exploitation by the anti-national elements and inimical forces due to the sensitive location of Jammu. He explained that they were brought here by the NC-Congress government and settled here with specific motives. |
