Mohd Akbar Lone's Emotional outburst | | Surinder Koul | 4/7/2018 11:34:51 PM |
| Mehjoor, the famous romantic Kashmiri poet laureate of revolutionary days forecasted the political predilection of Kashmiri " ZUO HAA WANDAAI HINDUSTANS DIL HAA CHUMM PAKISTANS" ( Life is for India but heart is for Pakistan) is being vindicated in J&K Assembly by showcasing anti India, pro-self determination, pro-secessionist utterance in fit of emotions by some of elected representative across the party line intermittently. Whether, it is Engineer Abdul Rashid, independent MLA from Langate, stand for UN resolution against Indian occupation of Kashmir, or his flaunting beef dishes in the premises of the J&K Assembly, or tagging Syed Salaud-din, HM chief not as terrorist, Hakeem Yassin's, PDP MLA, posture of international settlement of disputed Kashmir, or Jaz Ahmed Mir, PDP MLA's position, slain militants to be called as martyrs. All are sailing in the same boat. Shouting of Pakistan Zindabad slogan by Mohd Akbar Lone, former Speaker, of J&K State Assembly and ex Cabinet Minister under Omar Abdullah's premiership, currently, MLA of National Conference, a main stream political party of the state in the Assembly hall was a treacherous act. Over and above his audacity to challenge the authority of the state and its constitution to which he is bound by oath of loyalty and secrecy, further affirms his scale of disloyalty. The liberal and award vapsi brigade in main land India, would not hesitate to shout from minarets that it was freedom of expression in democracy, just to shroud it under gloss of their ideological canopy. Here, Mohd Akbar Lone had committed treason in an august\ house which passes laws for the welfare and economic development of the people to maintain equality, protection of life and property irrespective of caste, colour or religion . So he should have applied his power of mind before spelling rotten beans in fit of anger and frustration. It puts a question mark on his nationalism? From religious point of view it is a sin to deceive one's own nation which is the home and hearth for each one. He had been drawing his salary, and other perks and benefits drawn from Indian exchequer. Probably, he did not apprehended the fall out of his Pro Pak slogan and his proud endorsement of the same on the common life in the valley. Anti national utterances are emboldening the already poisoned youth to extreme violence. To exhibit their extreme posture, they arev resorting to killing of lower strata of employees in the valley . So persons holding public office have to be doubly cautious in action and words to ward off perfidious behaviour. Junaid Mattoo, National Conference, spokesman in his usual style came out for damage control, while other members like Mohd Shafi Uri( NC), Mohd Yusuf Taragami ( CPM), in the Assembly tried to mellow down the causticity of the slogan. Leadership of the NC party distanced itself and BJP representatives raised their objections but none of them registered a case or any PIL against Mohd Akbar Lone for his act of violation of Indian constitution. Looking back at Mohd Akbar Lone; rise in political arena , he had humble beginning from agriculture background, hailing from Naidkhai village in Tehsil Sumbal Sonawari; once flood prone belt, which was built as model township by Late Bakshi Ghulam Mohd in late fifties. Mohd Akbar Lone was upcoming, extrovert and progressive in attitude who started his career as a lawyer in Tehsil court of Sumbal Sonawari soon after his law graduation. Close on his heels, he was offered mandate by Janta party to contest election from Sumbal Sonawar constituency in 1977, which he lost. In following year 1978 Late A.G.Lone an innovative, skilful and sagacious politician, smarter than his contemporaries, hooked up Mohd Akbar Lone, Muzaffer Hussain Beigh, Bashir Khan and many brilliant young educated Muslim youth from Baramulla and Kupwara districts for People's conference which he floated after getting disgruntled with the politicking behaviour of congress and NC in the valley. Mohd Akbar Lone , fought subsequent election in 1983 on People's Conference ticket from his native constituency but was routed along with other party candidates, who too had lost except for Late A.G.Lone a winning candidate from Handiwara assembly segment. In avidity of his political career, Akbar Lone chose to join National Conference in 1987 where from his political graph ascended unstopped till date. Question arises here, what forced Akbar Lone to make such controversial slogan in august body? It seems either pro Pakistan sentiment among the public has gone so deep that he had to nurture his constituency or he too has got radicalised beyond control and in that desperation, he made such fissiparous outrageous cry. Did he not introspect to find how such fetid political postures are going to advance his political career, henceforth in Kashmir? Politically, he has not made any big leap forward but has come in the notice of Pakistan masters to carry their staff of political alternative of their choice. Mohd Akbar Lone, the elected representative of National Conference is not at fault because he has imbibed the character of\ controversies, double speak from his party bigwigs. Initial National Conference's schooling as Muslim Conference from 1931 to 1939 can't be undone from the preamble of the party which was exclusively communal against Dogra rule. The first seed of secession was sown by late Shiekh Mohd Abdullah after he was dethroned as PM of the state in 1953 for hobnobbing with US to carve out his own sultanate in the valley. Sheikh Abdullah slogan of Plebiscite Front, misled the people and subverted the minds of Kashmiris against India. It, eventually sprouted secessionist youth groups, cells thus resulted into indulgence in violence at low ebb in the valley. All such groups had tacit support of Late Mirza Afzal Beigh who used to carry Pakistani rock salt in his pocket to allure voters by displaying it hideously in public gathering. Baigh was the right hand of late Shiekh Abdullah who was whimsical and indecisive on state affairs and centre - state relations. To revenge the foul politics played by late Bakshi in 1953, he was not hesitant to deny burial space to Late Bakshi Ghulam Mohd, at Shahi Hamdan grave yard. In fact it was late Bakshi who put whole state on economic and educational developments progress with lot many popular welfare policies . Abdullah's three generation ruled the state after Late Shiekh's re-coronation in Feb 1975 on the culmination of Baigh - Parthaswarthy accord as CM. Dr Farooq too followed his father & 39;s footstep of double talk to keep contentious matters alive, whether in power or out of power . In 1989 Dec, he betrayed the mandate given to his party by the people of J&K by fleeing away to UK,to shirk from his responsibilities as head of the Government; when the valley was engulfed by gun totting youth. Since out of power, he had assertively defended stone throwers for the sacrifice towards resolution of Kashmir. He also suggested APHC to get united in their struggle and they were with them and aspired for third party intervention for settlement of Kashmir issue. So the whole party is caught in its own contradictions and flickering policy with the result they are further pushing Kashmiris to the precipice of the cliff. |
