Jammu, Apr 7: The fifth book of poetry "Crooked Hyphens" by Geetika Kohli Amla was today released at India International Centre. According to press release, the event, 'The Folklore of India Series: A Poetic Kaleidoscope', was chaired by Padma Vibhushan Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan, an eminent scholar, ex - MP, Founding Director of Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts and Chairperson of India International Centre. Co - chairs included Dr. H K Koul, Head of Poetry Society of India and Director - DELNET. Sudershan K Cherry, MD, Authorspress and Anmol Amla, Director - Heritage Strings School of Rock, Monica Sharma of Delhi hosted the show. The ceremony began with Dr. Kaul enlightening the assemblage about the relevance of folk literature and the need to keep it alive in the lives and minds of our youth. He also elucidated the constituents of world class poetry and patted Geetika for penning enthralling verses, which according to him had already transcended borders. This was succeeded by the dignitaries releasing Geetika's book. Geetika read her English translation of Brij Mohan's Dogri Paper, 'Dogri Folk Poetry - An Introduction' and recited some pieces from her collection. Rockstar Anmol Amla then recited Dogri Folk Songs from his album, 'Mitthiyaan Parchhaiyaan'. |
