| RDD polluting Mendhar river, throws garbage into it | | |  Early Times Report
MENDHAR, Apr 10: Rural Development Department has been polluting Mencdhar River by throwing garbage into it. Residents complained that by doing so they are not only polluting the Mendhar stream which ultimately will lead to the death of aquatic animals but are also causing great pain to the people who pass through the area as foul smell emanates from the stream. The RDD authorities after collecting garbage from various parts of the town throw it into the nullah. We have complained to the authorities many times, but to no avail. Now we have given up complaining, Tariq Ahmed a local resident, said.
To top it all the RDD failed to do its job as the garbage that was meant to be picked up blocked the drains and trash thrown outside the bins got washed away in the streets. While the authorities provided only a few dumpsters for the collection of garbage most lay dumped in stores of the civic body thereby exposing the claims of the civic body of not having dumpsters for the collection of garbage.
As a result people have been forced to dump garbage on roadsides Bus Stand Dharna Chowk Main chowk, New Bus stand, Old Bus Stand .
With very few dumpsters available heaps of garbage remain piled up on the roadside leading to cluttered roads and clogged drains. People have been dumping garbage on the roads especially outside the " Shaheed Yadgar Mendhar just short of the famous Mendhar Memorial. Instead of disposing of garbage and other waste material at a dumping site, the Mendhar RDD has been dumping the garbage into a nullah in the town. |
