Kashmir-turns Syria, beheading of innocents starts
No difference between IS, LeT
4/10/2018 11:43:52 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, April 10: The decapitated body of a 24-year-old youth, Manzoor, who was allegedly abducted by unidentified gunmen from Kashmir's Hajin two days ago, which was found last Friday, suggests that Kashmir is turning Syria, may be slowly but surely.
A group of suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists had allegedly barged into the house of Abdul Gaffar Bhat and abducted him and his son Manzoor last Wednesday night. Gaffar had managed to escape, his son was not lucky. The armed terrorists took his son away. His beheaded body was found on Friday in an orchard, about a kilo- metre away from his house. As for Gaffar, who had sustained a firearm injury during the scuffle with the militants, is reportedly still recuperating in a hospital.
Manzoor's was the second killing in Hajin in one week itself. The first civilian killing was that of Naseer Ahmad Parray, 37. He had also been abducted and his body was recovered from the outskirts of the town the very next day.
Reacting to these killings of innocents, Bandipore SP Zulfakar Azad reportedly said: "Both Manzoor and Parray were 'innocent civilians'. Four to five foreign militants, along with a local militant Saleem, are behind both these killings. Lashkar-e-Toiba leadership was wiped out from the area last year, but a new group had become active now. This new group comprising four to five foreign militants are again active in the area and they want to terrorize the local population by killing innocent people".
The fact of the matter is that there is no difference between Islamic State of Syria and Iraq (ISIS) and LeT. Both have adopted a similar methodology to terrorize innocents through abduction and beheading of innocents.
Why are the LeT terrorists killing innocents in Kashmir? Kashmir is not a neglected region in the country. It is most powerful and highly prosperous region in the country. It holds the office of CM. It controls all vital departments and these include Home, revenue, Finance, Planning, General Administration, Education, Tourism, Agriculture, Public Works, Information and Technology, Labour and Employment, to mention only a few. It is Kashmir which controls the state's financial institutions and dominates Civil Secretariat, the seats of Power. It has preponderant share of representation in the assembly, notwithstanding the fact that Jammu has more voters and population equal, if not more. Again, it is Kashmir, whose writ runs in the recruitment agencies and as result, the rate of unemployment in Kashmir is less than 30% as compared to over 69% in Kashmir. Not just this, it is Kashmir which got lion's share in the selection list of SPOs; it got almost 10,000 positions of SPOs, as against the Jammu's share of less than 3000. All this should indicate how prosperous and powerful Kashmir region is. The causes of terrorism and separatism in Kashmir are deeper. New Delhi needs to understand it and evolve and adopt an appropriate policy to take care of these deeper causes.
