Snag shuts GMC's gas plant for 1 hr | Plant runs without power backup, alternate line | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 10: In the absence of backup for the gas plant in Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu, power supply was hit on Tuesday because of technical fault. The gas plant didn't function for an hour, and later the supply was restored after the intervention of the hospital's authorities. The incident has exposed the previous management and concerned officials including mechanical wing who were running the gas plant without power backup or alternate line for the plant. Sources said when the gas plant was set up, no backup or alternate plan was set in place. Since then, the plant has been running, with no one bothered to pay heed towards the serious issue despite repeated requests made by some employees. Sources further said the mechanical wing hasn't purchased a generator nor informed the concerned management for its requirement. It is prerogative of the executive agency to arrange all items required to run the plant hassle free. Officials of the GMC, wishing not to be named, admitted that the plant was remained non-functional for an hour due to power snag in the particular power supply line. They said power was restored within an hour. They accused their predecessor as well as mechanical wing for setting up the plant without alternate power supply as well as generator back. |
