| District Admin Poonch conducts raids at WPS, 5 stations found locked | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Apr 10: On the directions of DDC Poonch, night raids were conducted at several pumping stations across the district. It has been reported in the recent past that lazy approach and non-pumping of Water at the pumping stations has also led to artificial scarcity of water.
To look into this issue squads were constituted to conduct overnight inspections. During the inspection at Haveli, pumping stations at Kunuyan and Khanater were found closed. However, pumping stations at Bandichechian, Jhulass, Chandak and Daradullian were found operational with staff present there. DDC Poonch himself visited the Main pumping station at Dungas. During night raids at Mendhar, five pumping stations at Chhattral, Ghulata, Narol, Dharana and near HSS Mendhar were found locked showing the blatant apathy of officials. One pumping station near Ari Police post was found operating and charging.
Similarly, three pumping stations at Seri Khawaja, Dana and Pamrote were also found locked. It has been brought to the notice of district administration that one of the causes of Water scarcity is the conspicuous absence of pumping station staff during night hours and Linemen during the duty hours. The favourable voltage to pump water is during night hours only. Directions have been passed to the executive engineer hydraulic to initiate action against the erring staff of the pumping stations as well as their controlling officials. Salary of AEE Mechanical withheld. Such an action is warranted in the interest of improving public service delivery in the PHE department. |
