Jammu, Apr 10: A Punjabi Kavi Darbar was organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages remote village of Raika Labana in Tehsil and District of Samba, today. Senior and young Punjabi poets of the area recited their poetry in the Kavi Darbar. Manjit Singh, Senior Vice- president of Senior Citizens Welfare Council was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Sh. Suraj Prakash Rattan presided over the event. S. Popinder Singh, Gurjit Singh, former Sarpanch of the village and Gurdip Singh were present in the presidium. Galaxy of intellectuals, writers, artists, senior citizens of the village and young boys and girls of the village attended the Kavi darbar. C S Katal, Ravinder Kaur, Dilbeer Kaur, Shamsher Choudhary, Harbhajan Upashak, Bishan singh Dardi, Resham Kaur Resham, Sat Slarvi, Balwinder singh,Suraj praksah Rattan, Jang S. Verman. Bhupinder Kaur, Neelam Gandotra and Naresh Kumar recited their poetry which was highly appreciated by the audience. The theme of the poetry revolved around mal- practices in the society like feticide, dowry, values and other aspects related to our society and system in their particular styles of expressions. While speaking on this occasion S. Manjit Singh said that musicians, literary people and poets can mould the society by using their ideology through pen or music. Earlier S. Popinder Singh, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi, JKAACL. in his address said that Cultural Academy has brought laurels in the field of art and culture to the state from the time of its inception in the year 1958. |
