Will CM intervene to help a teacher 'tormented' by a MLA? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 13: A school teacher, who was allegedly assaulted by a MLA and his Personal Security Officers, and was later attached has been running from pillar to post get himself heard. Moreover, Police department also has turned a blind eye towards the matter as even after lapse of nine months complaint of the teacher is gathering dust at concerned Police Station. "The Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who has acted tough against the politicians indulging in such hooliganism, should take a note of this incident and come for the rescue of the poor teacher," said one of the colleagues of the victim. Its in place to mention here that the aggrieved teacher Pritam Singh had asked MLA Ramnagar to mind his language when the elected representative misbehaved with him. Instead of behaving the MLA and his PSOs allegedly thrashed him and directed the concerned Chief Education Officer (CEO) to attach him. "It's unfortunate that despite case being highlighted by the media, Chief Minister has not taken a note. CM should get the victim reinstated and intervene to get a case registered against the MLA so that it can act as a deterrent in future," said one of the teachers, wishing not to be named. The state government has recently cancelled attachments of all teaching and non-teaching staff in school education department, but CEO Udhampur seems least bothered to implement government's order in his jurisdiction. "Sanction is hereby accorded to the cancellation of all attachments ordered from time-to-time of the officers/ officials including teaching staff of the School Education Department, who are presently attached in other Departments with immediate effect. All the detached employees shall be deemed to have been relieved with immediate effect and directed to report back to their original places of postings in the School Education Department wherefrom they have been attached", Govt order no 488-Edu of 2018 read and added that the Directors of School Education, Kashmir/ Jammu shall henceforth send consolidated reports of detachments in their respective Divisions to the Administrative Department for further action. But under pressure from MLA, the Education Department didn't bother to implement the order. The MLA had on 21st June visited GHSS, Basantgarh, and had thrashed the teacher. The MLA's action had evoked widespread criticism. The teaching fraternity had even sought the registration of FIR against the MLA. The victim also filed a case, but police didn't bother to register the case. A source said, "In response to previous order of state government, the teacher was detached from Government High School Chhatrari to Government Higher Secondary School, Basantgarh but same day the order was cancelled on the directions of the MLA." |
