Udhampur, Apr 28: The pond at village Phangial about 3km from here is in pathetic condition with dirt, garbage and unnecessary bushes almost choking it.
The water is so contaminated that it is considered dangerous for animals as well. However, as many as 150 households are forced to use water from the pond for cleaning and washing purposes.
Genash Kumar, a local, informed that a concrete wall around the pond and concrete stairs for going into the pond has been a long pending demand .
The locals have demanded cleanliness, removal of bushes and rain water harvesting to protect and preserve the pond. The people have also been urged to ensure cleanliness inside and around the pond. |
