Govt using Kathua rape-murder to malign Jammu's image: Vikramaditya
4/29/2018 1:29:51 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 28: Vikramaditya Singh, who resigned as Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) as well as from primary membership for PDP last year, on Saturday said that some forces in PDP-BJP government are trying to malign image of Jammu people as part of a deep-rooted conspiracy.
While resigning as MLC as well as member of PDP in October 2017, Singh had alleged that PDP was pursuing anti-Jammu policies and meting out step-motherly treatment with this region.
"It is unfortunate to see how this tragic incident of rape with a minor child (in Kathua) was used as a tool by powerful sections of the J&K government and national media to falsely and maliciously malign the people of Jammu and create a perception that they were insensitive and somehow shielding the perpetrators of this heinous and barbaric crime", Singh stated in a statement here.
He asserted that nothing could be farther away from the truth; that it was a deliberate attempt to malign Jammu and take away focus from other burning issues that continue to be ignored by the government and have been gaining wide support throughout Jammu region.
Vikramaditya also said that there is not a single person in Jammu who does not want to see the harshest punishment given out to the perpetrators of this crime and see justice delivered to the victim and her family.
Singh's this statement has landed BJP in a very difficult situation as party is likely to face anger of the people in days to come. Already Choudhary Lal Singh has started aggressive campaign against the party.
Singh while quitting PDP on October 23 las year had charged PDP with propagating "anti-Jammu policies". "I was feeling suffocated in the party due to discriminatory and anti-Jammu policies being propagated by the government," he had stated that time.
"It is not morally and ethically correct for me to remain in the PDP which is ignoring wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu region," he added.
