Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 28: In compliance to the orders of Division Bench of High Court in WPPIL number 27/2017 titled COURT ON ITS OWN MOTION V/S STATE OF J&K &Ors., dated 28-3-2018, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today intensified the ongoing drive against encroachers, illegal hoardings, illegal rehries/pheries causing traffic congestions and obstructing free movements of pedestrians on footpaths in the areas Below Gumat, Vinayak Bazar, Jewel, Canal road upto Canal head. The drive was conducted on the instructions of Commissioner JMC Ramesh Kumar under the supervision of Joint Commissioner (Adm.) JMC, Rishpal Singh and Secretary, JMC, Sunaina Mehta, Chief Enforcement Officer, Rajesh Gupta, Enforcement Officer, Kamini Kesar, Revenue Officers Parmod Kumar, Ashwani Sudan, Sunil Gupta and enforcement staff of JMC also accompanied the drive. During the drive, the enforcement team of JMC removed encroachments and cleared the footpaths and pavements. The team seized five trucks of material like counters, wooden moulding beats, illegal flexes and hoardings displayed by the shopkeepers/phari walas in front of their shops and footpaths causing traffic congestion and free flow of pedestrians. The team also lifted two illegal rehries from Jewel area plying without permission. The JMC has repeatedly issuing strictly instructions to the shopkeepers regarding removal of encroachments by shopkeepers through public notices. The errant shopkeepers shall be bound to take action against the defaulters/encroachers in terms of Section 232 of the Municipal Corporation Act, 2000 which may further lead towards the sealing of the shops as per law. |
