Early Times Report JAMMU, May 10: Police on Thursday busted an inter-state gang of ATM fraudsters and thieves in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. Police said the gang for the last couple of months was operating in the district and by arresting the accused Dinesh Kumar of Sishaya Bolan, Tehsil Hansi, District Hissar, Haryana by the Police persons deployed in civvies in and around the ATM Machines on the directions, the gang has been busted. "The accused was arrested from Punjab National Bank ATM Machine near Gas Agency Samba when he tried to fraudulently dupe one person namely Kaka Ram of Panjtilla, Samba who went there to withdraw his cash money," Anil Magotra, SSP Samba here said. He said that the accused when questioned, disclosed the modus operandi of the gang in which members of the gang offered their help to innocent customers in withdrawing their money and then after secretly noticed their ATM Password, they fraudulently swapped the ATM cards of the customers with some other cards of the same color or bank. "They later used the ATM card to withdraw the money from the accounts of the customers and during checking, a total of 18 number of ATM cards of different Banks were also recovered from the possession of accused persons," he said, adding that a case under relevant sections was registered and investigation started |
