Major fire breaks out in Gangera hills in Udhampur | Fire spreads to 5 kanals of forest land | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, May 11: A major fire broke out in Gangera hills forest area in Udhampur today while efforts are being applied to douse the flames. The fire broke out this morning and the flames spread wildly through the forest. According to reports the fire has spread up to five kanals of area in deep forests destroying the pine trees in the forest area. The cause of fire was not ascertained as yet. The fire is yet to be controlled fully; however, strenuous efforts are on to douse the fire. Meanwhile, the lame duck response of the officials of Forest Protection Force (FPF) to the fire incident led to the heavy losses to the green gold. The FPF team reached the spot quite late due to which the green gold slowly turned into ashes. The fire tenders could not reach the spot because area is hilly and there is also no road connectivity to reach the forest area. |
