Lack of accommodation hampers studies of students | | | Tahir Mushtaq Early Times Report
RAMBAN, May 11: In spite of several schemes and programmes launched by the centre as well as state government for overall development of education department, there are still many institutions lacking basic facilities. One such glaring example of Government Higher Secondary School Thatharka having enrollment of more than 700 students who are compelled to study under open sun as the school building cannot accommodate them all. The school was constructed in 1935, though it was upgraded many a time to adjust students of higher classes, but its condition and accommodation besides other facilities are degraded day after day, said Ghulam Mohammad Dev a senior citizen. "Other facilities too have degraded and the school is in pathetic condition," he added A student of 12th class Afreena Kousar said "Our school lacks accommodation and existing building poses threat to life". She further said that under these circumstances it is very difficult for us to qualify our board examination adding that the education department has put our future at stake. We are coming from far flung areas and it is impossible for us to reach the school during rainy season besides the school remained close due to shortage of accommodation. When contacted Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban Tariq Hussain Ganai said "I will personally visit the said school to take stock of the situation". |
