NSF signature campaign for CBI enquiry in Rassana case enters day 17
5/11/2018 11:27:27 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 11: Understanding the importance and genuineness of CBI enquiry National Secular Forum (NSF) initiated the signature campaign in Rassana murder case.
The campaign which was initiated in response to the primary demand of the local people for CBI probe in the matter entered in 17th day and got a healthy response from the University campus. More than twenty thousand people from all walks of life reached the venue to pen down their signatures.
Addressing the gathering here today, NSF chief Dr Vikas Sharma said, "There is an iota of doubt about the brutality to which the little girl was subjected. Every citizen of Jammu condemns this incident and seeks death penalty to the person who committed this heinous crime. But, the way the Crime Branch probed this case raised suspicion among the people of Jammu."
He added, "If people of Jammu are not satisfied with the probe and seeking CBI probe then what's wrong in it. But, the national media projected the agitation of Jammu people as pro-rapist. And that's not acceptable to us. No one can play with the sentiments of Dogras who are warriors and not cowards who commit gang rape on a minor girl. We worship the little girls as "Devi" irrespective of their caste and creed."
Pushpinder Singh State Vice-President also said that Govt should honour the public sentiment and order a CBI probe so as to identify the actual culprits, without fear or favour, and to accord them exemplary punishment. He said that people had expressed doubts over the credibility of present investigating agency, the Crime Branch, on the ground of inclusion of some officers of doubtful integrity in the enquiry committee. "Give death penalty to those who are the culprits, but harassment of innocents under the garb of enquiry was something that had sparked massive outrage not only in Kathua but other districts as well", he said.
