Jammu, May 11: The government of India is all set to roll out a new policy to counter the ongoing flare-up of situation in Jammu and Kashmir a local news agency reported on Friday. "The Centre is set to roll out a calibrated, dynamic policy for Jammu and Kashmir, with security forces would be asked to "arrest" newly recruited members and go after the hardened militants," a source said. The report said that various agencies have been asked to ensure that militants surrender after being cornered in gunfights. The report further noted that 'the emotional upsurge at funerals of slain militants' was aiding recruitment to militant ranks. On Wednesday, chief minister Mehbooba Mufti while convening an all party meeting over the escalating of killings, during gunfights and protests, asked New Delhi to consider a 'unilateral ceasefire' in view of the coming month of Ramzan and the annual Amarnath Yatra. Centre after getting the feedback of state government might change its track and announce a ceasefire as never ending bloodshed seems to be not taking issues to any conclusion." But hours after Mufti's appeal, her ruling partner, the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is also at power in New Delhi, declined the demand, saying the true will demoralize the morale of forces. |
