Miscreants encroach Ex-Army Officer's land, Police unmoved | Chief Secretary assures Lt Col Trehan, admin ignores orders of CS | | K Koushal Early Times Report Jammu, May 13: Taking wrong cues from the government circular regarding settlement on government land, a section of miscreants from a particular community have allegedly encroached land of an ex-Army officer in Nagrota, whereas the Jammu and Kashmir police have paid no heed towards the repeated complaints lodged by the retired soldier. According to the complainant, without getting into any troubles with the miscreants, he preferred to lodge a complaint with the Jammu and Kashmir police, preceded by a meeting with Chief Secretary, but nothing substantial has been done till date. "After frequent complaints to police, I met Chief Secretary B B Vyas and handed him the documents of the land, which convincingly shows that the land measuring 20 kanals was purchased in 1959 while remaining 1 Kanal and 9 Marlas was purchased in 1971 by my father, Ajit Singh, an IAS officer," said complainant, retired Lt Col Davinder Singh Trehan. He added that between December 31, 2017 and January 2, 2018, section of miscreants from a particular community encroached upon 3 kanals of land and raised temporary cattle shed. When we came to know about the encroachment they approached the police. Finding police not interested in helping the complainant, the encroachers grabbed another kanal of land. "To save his land from further encroachment, I immediately raised boundary wall so that the encroachers do not encroach more land and police officers assured me that they will restore back the land to me as I have all the land records-registry and mutation papers," said ex Lt Col Trehan. "I also approached the Chief Secretary of the state on April 9, 2018 seeking justice," said Trehan adding that Chief Secretary gave him a patient hearing and also saw his papers and marked these to Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu for appropriate action. Despite direction from the office of the Chief Secretary, Trehan stated that his all hopes to retrieve back the land from encroachers stand dashed as the police and the administration are not acting. He said the miscreants have also filed a false case against him under a conspiracy to harass him and his family prompting mental stress for him and his family. When Early Times contacted tehsildar Nagrota, Amit Sharma he stated that the Revenue department has submitted a report to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu and also initiated process for retrieval of land. |
