| No wages paid to MGNREGA labourers, Distt admin says funds already released | | | MS Nazki

Poonch, May 25: Lambasting the administration for its apathy and indifferent attitude MGNREGA labourers apprised the District Development Commissioner that they were not paid their dues by the concerned department for quite sometime yet district administration claims that an amount of Rs 12.50 crore had been already released to clear the labourers liablity in Mendhar block.
This was disclosed the by the DDC Mohd Aijaz Asad during a public darbar held at Dharana Panchayat Ghar in Mendhar block here.
He said i am surprised to know that MGNREGA labourers have not been paid their dues while funds to the tune of Rs 12.50 crore had been already released by the district administration to clear the liablity of labourers. He said a team will be constitited to know the facts as where the funds have gone which were released for the MGNREGA labourers. Asad assured the labourers their genuine demand will be addressed shortly.
The DDC was also apprised of other problems that people have to face off and on which include the issue of water scarcity, scheduled and unscheduled power cuts, shortage of ration in the government depots and poor health facilities in the health centres. The DDC gave a patient hearing to locals and assured them that their genuine demands will be looked into and cognizance of matter will be taken in shortest possible time.
