According to reports a youth who went missing a few days ago from his home in Hajin has reportedly joined Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit. Dar was detained and booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) last year and was released only few months back, said reports. Pertinently on May 23, a special police officer (SPO) guard with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has allegedly fled with his service rifle in Rafiabad constituency of this north Kashmir district. SPO Waseem Ahmad Malla of Shutloo village in Rafiabad area, posted at the guard room of the BJP leader Mohammad Maqbool War at Rohama Rafiabad has been missing since May 23rd of morning along with his service rifle, sources told early times. However sources believe that SPO Waseem Malla may had joined militant ranks, but police has not issued any statement of his joining into militant ranks yet, as police is still investigating into the matter. There are also reports that south Kashmir has become a hotbed of violent confrontation between security forces and local Kashmiri commanders, police and state intelligence are warning of a sharp rise in militant activity in north Kashmir with infiltrators from across the border attempting to gain a foothold in the region. According to experts, senior Jammu and Kashmir police officers and intelligence officers, several incidents in north Kashmir in the past few of months, coupled with fresh intelligence inputs, seem to suggest that the northern region of the Valley could be a major target area for militants, said reports. |
