| Bawa Hospital successfully performs Total Knee Replacement | | | EarlyTimes Report
JAMMU, May 25: A successful Total knee replacement( knee arthroplasty) was performed on 65 year old patient Raja Begum from Srinagar who had difficulty in walking due to unbearable pain in right knee.
Dr.R.S.Bawa M.S. Ortho FAIS, Dr.Ranbir Singh Bawa DNB Ortho., D' Ortho., MCh Ortho. and their team performed this surgery by using latest techniques.The patient was not able to walk properly as she could not bear weight on right leg due to her painful knee.
The operation lasted for about 1 hour and no blood transfusion was required during and in postoperative period.The patient was able to bear weight painfree on 2nd day following surgery.
Dr.R.S.Bawa told the media that problem of osteoarthritis is increasing day by day in patients who are 60 years and older.Total knee replacement is a very good answer to this problem with overall success rate of above 90%. |
