| Workshop on Waste Management held in Poonch | | |

POONCH, May 28: With an aim of creating awareness about Solid Waste Management and its scientific disposal in Poonch town a one day workshop cum sensitization programme was organized by District Administration in association with local Municipal Council and Envo Saviours Technology. The progarmme was attended by officers and staff of Municipal Council Poonch, Safai Karamcharis of MC Poonch, Panchayat Secretaries, VLWs and Gram Rozgar Sewaks and some citizens. Deputy Commissioner Poonch Mohammad Aijaz said that Solid Waste Management is a priority for the district administration and very soon a massive awareness campaign would be launched on waste management in Poonch. He said that scientific solid waste management would be also undertaken in the town in consultation with experts in this field.
Dr. Raja Muzaffar Bhat, RTI & Social Activist spoke in detail about the solid waste management rules of 2016. He stressed on the Poonch Municipal Council to start segregating waste at source so that same is processed at the dumping site. He appealed authorities to ensure Bio Medical waste coming out from District hospital is treated on scientific lines. |
