Soldiers pay heavy price, terrorists strike at will
Ceasefire Fiasco
5/28/2018 11:48:11 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 28: Pakistan and the terrorists sponsored by it are least interested in the ceasefire announced by the Centre in the holy month of Ramadan in Jammu and Kashmir as they have been repeatedly violating it.
On Sunday night terrorists attacked an army camp at Kakapora in south Kashmir's Pulwama district killing a soldier and a civilian. On Monday morning they triggered an IED blast in Shopian injuring three soldiers.
An official said, "We are paying with our lives just to keep politicians happy who want to appease the separatists and the people sitting in Pakistan."
He said, "The security forces suspending operations against the terrorists have allowed them to regroup and move at will. They know that they are not being hunted and they can move around freely."
The official said that attack on the army camp at Kakapora should serve as an eye opener for the people sitting at the top. "If the operations against the terrorists remain suspended for a long time it would allow terrorists to carry out a major strike in the coming days," he added.
An analyst said, "The announcement of ceasefire by the Centre has turned the soldiers into lame ducks and its not acceptable. Security forces should restart the operations against the terrorists without any further delay."
He said, "Had the terrorists and their bosses been interested in peace they would have utilized this opportunity and allowed people to perform their religious duties without any fear in this holy month of Ramadan."
He said, "Since the day Ramadan has started terrorists are trying to create fear in one way or other. Last week ten civilians were wounded in a grenade attack near Bijbehara. During the past few days they attacked the army camps in south Kashmir and on Sunday night they succeeded in killing a soldier and a civilian."
The analyst said, "Terrorists are making desperate attempts to vitiate peace while the security forces are watching them. These attempts to vitiate peace in this holy month should serve as an eye opener for the people of Kashmir who believe that Pakistan and the terrorists sponsored by it are their well wishers."
He said, "If army wants it can wipe out these terrorists active in the Valley within a week. The Government of India should reconsider its ceasefire decision and allow the security forces to take decisive action against these Pakistan sponsored terrorists."
