PIL regarding development of Mantalai-SudhMahadev | DB directs to file affidavit | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 28: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Adv Summit Nayyar seeking respondents to develop/improve the tourist infrastructural facilities for the Mantalai-SudhMahadev including temples which attract a large number of tourists expeditiously, a Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Sanjay Kumar Gupta after hearing Adv Sumit Nayyar (petitioner in person) whereas Govt Advocate AH Bhat for the state, directed respondents to file an affidavit stating therein the period within which the developmental projects will be completed. The affidavit shall also give details of the amount that has been spent on these projects till now. In the PIL it has been submitted that Sudhmahadev temple and Mantalai temple in Udhampur District are considered sacred. Further, Dhirendra Bhramchari, the yogic mentor of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was killed in an air crash in June 1994 and his property worth hundreds of crore in Mantalai Aparna Asharam is gathering dust. In the past several years the state government has failed to promote the tourist resort on the tourism map of the state. According to sources of the petitioner the immoveable and movable property located inside the sprawling ashram built over 1002 kanals of land is in dilapidated condition. Out of 26 rooms of the under construction five star hotel the automatic locks of one dozen rooms are broken and nothing is lying inside these rooms. That after his accidental death in a private plane crash on 9th of June 1994 the yoga guru's property was left untouched by the successive State government. |
