Ex-Sarpanch held with 20 gram heroin | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 28: In continuation to operation 'Sanjveeni', launched by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu to curb drug peddling, Gandhi Nagar police today claimed to have arrested an ex sarpanch and recovered 20 grams of heroin from his possession. Police spokesman said that today police party from Gandhi Nagar police station established a naka near Panama Chowk Jammu for checking/ frisking of vehicles. "During checking/ frisking of vehicles one Wagon-R car bearing Registration number JKO2AT-0352 was also stopped for checking and on questioning the driver disclosed his name as Alum Din of Ragoora, Jammu and on his personnel search 20 grams of heroin like substance was recovered from his possession", said police spokesman adding that on this a case under FIR No. 123/2018 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Gandhi Nagar and investigation started. It is pertinent to mention here that the arrested accused is the ex-Sarpanch of Panchyat Ragoora Jammu who is also a drug supplier and during questioning deposed that the consignment in question is meant for sale among the youths of Jammu area. The arrest and recovery has been made by Inspector SHO Gandhi Nagar, Sunil Singh Jasrotia assisted by ASI Shesh Pal of Gandhi Nagar police station under the supervision of SDPO City South Rafiq Manhas, SP City South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Shri Vivek Gupta-IPS. |
