| Police arrest drug peddler | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, June 8: In a major success Thanamndi police in Rajouri district have arrested a noted drug peddler along with a consignment of intoxicant tablets / capsules in the afternoon today. Rajouri district police under the supervision of Yougal Manhas, SSP, have initiated a drive against those involved in un-lawful activities and today have arrested a noted drug peddler along with a consignment of 800 intoxicant capsules.
The accused has been identified as Jahangir Iqbal s/o Mohd Iqbal r/o Thanamandi town and was booked under sections 8/21/22 of NDPS Act and 48-(a) excise Act. Iftikar Ahmed Chowdhry, SDPO, Thanamandi informed that during police checking on Rajouri-Thanamandi road at Khablan, the accused peddler attempted to flee from the area in suspicious movement after spotting the police party headed by Altaf Hussain ,ASI. "The youth was chased by the police party and was apprehended after a long chase. On his frisking police recovered 800 intoxicant capsules/ tablets from his possession and was arrested by the police" said SDPO.
The drug consignment includes 680 SPM-PRX +WOCKHARDT (Proxivon) capsules and 120 tablets of Nitravet-10. Rajouri district police has started drive against the anti-social elements and large number of drug peddlers and bovine smugglers, noted thieves etc has been arrested during last six months. Many among them and the request of police have been jailed under Public Safety Act (PSA) and preventive custody on the orders of District/ Executive Magistrates. |
