Early Times Report
Jammu, June 8: o do tor has been appointed for 87 ISM dispensaries created in 2014.
Reliable sources informed Early Times that previous government, vide order No: 585-HME of 2014 dated 17-10-2014 had created 87 ISM dispensaries one at each for Legislative Constituency and sanctioned 87 posts of Medical Officers which have been distributed into Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathy.
"After three years of sanction, government in 2017 has referred 66 Medical Officers posts to Public Service Commission for recruitment- 50 posts for Ayurveda and 16 posts for Homeopathy", sources said, adding that the remaining posts of Unani stream referred by government in beginning of current year. The recruitment process of these posts hangs in balance, the PSC is yet to start further process of recruitment.
Nearly 45 posts of Medical Officers are lying vacant only in Jammu region even when 87 new dispensaries were not established. No doubt, previous government has taken good step to establish another health institution across state but in absence of doctors all these health institutions are defunct.
A couple of years ago, many ISM doctors attained retirement and the opening of Ayurveda College at Jammu many doctors were deputed to run the affair of college but no new doctor has been recruited by the authorities. At present, these health institutions are not functioning smoothly because department deputed a doctor who was working more than two institutions on internal arrangement.
Criticizing former director ISM sources further said that not only delay in forwarding of these posts to PSC, the former director heading the department for the last thirteen years. In the year 2012 government vide order No. 381-HME of 2012 has created another 160 posts of Medical Officer and directed the then director to provide a list of doctors posts lying vacant in stream wise, so that the posts will be distributed but so far the doctors yet not distributed among them causing most of the doctors have been occupied Unani stream.
