SHO patronizes illegal sand mining, earns hefty cash in return | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 17: An Inspector ranked police officer posted in district Jammu as Station House Officer (SHO) is openly patronizing illegal business of sand mining in his area when he didn't find any source of accumulating 'extra income'. After giving free hand to the illegal business of sand mining in several nallahs falling under the jurisdictional of his police station, the Inspector is now making hefty amount in return. According to sources, the illegal sand miners operate in the late night hours so as to avoid the public glare and any other possible hiccups. "When the Inspector was posted in this particular police station located in a rural part of district Jammu, as SHO he got baffled with the fact that it is very hard to churn out extra money from the area so he decided to try his hand in the illegal trade of sand mining so as to earn quick bucks," said sources. "The first and foremost thing done by the Inspector was to round up the sand miners operating in his area. He even seized the vehicles of the sand miners so as to exert more pressure and kept them on wait for two days. In this way, the police officer managed to stop the all illegal mining activity in the area," added sources. Sources said that after tightening the noose of sand miners, the Inspector then assigned the duty of striking a deal with them to one of his blue eyed staff members of the police station. "Soon a deal was struck with miners and their seized vehicles were also released. After this development, the Inspector now a day is extending every possible help to the operators of sand extracting business. Two of his subordinates have been especially assigned the task to oversee the smooth operation of sand mining and to take care of the accounts related to the business," said sources. Sources further said that the concerned SHO has clearly instructed the sand miners to operate strictly in the night only as operating in day could attract complaints since the sand mining is prohibited by the administration but the Inspector is extending full support to flourish this illegal business just for the sake of money. |
