Jammu, June 17: The state vigilance organization (SVO) likely to squeeze a senior congress leaderalong with revenue officials, following complaints of land grabbing against him, moreover the anti-graft agency has sought land record detail from Divisional Commissioner's office. Sources familiar with the development informed that since February this year the SVO twice has sought detail of state landallegedly grabbed by the congress leader. "In the complaint, the complainant, has named congress leader and some revenue officials who tempering land record has registered several kanal of land in favour of the leader", sources said and added that in previous government, the congressleader has held an important position. Sources further said that divisional commissioner's office has further directed deputy commissioner Jammu to expedite the process to check the land record. In the complaint, the complainant has, alleged the powerful patwari (revenue official) who extended unlawful benefits to the congress leader, has also connections at higher level in secretariat. "The Patwari who is frequent visitor, civil secretariat, is more powerful than an IAS officer", they said and added that even the Patwari extracts money from his senior officers, who are sitting in Deputy Commissioner's office on the name of top bosses at secretariat. They said that apart from favouring the congress leader, the Pawtari has appeased many others including some top IAS and IPS officers in past. |
