Important artery of town becomes target of political rivalry | People continue to suffer | | Ashwani Sharma Early times report Udhampur, June 17: The vital road connecting Chief Education Officer's (CEO) office with other village like Londana here is in dilapidated condition and facing apathy of the authorities concerned who are doing nothing for the proper maintenance of this road. Sources informed that there is a political tussle between the sitting MLA and a defeated BJP candidate and the road is paying the price of that as the house of defeated MLA lies on this road. The road is damaged at many places and the pedestrians as well as the vehicles plying over it face a lot of problems. Locals informed that the road is posing a threat to the precious human lives. Locals informed that the situation becomes worst during rainy days due to waterlogging. Sources informed that while all other roads in the town have been properly maintained and face-lifted this only road is selectively neglected. Sushil Kumar, a social activist told Early Times that authorities and the government should give priority to the public welfare and should avoid all politics when it comes to public interests. Many organizations and locals of the area have appealed to the DC Udhampur for looking into the matter immediately as one another important office of social welfare department also lies on this road. |
