Wake up Jammu; say no to plastic bags: SRS | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 25: Shri Ram Sena State President, Rajiv Mahajan urged that concerned authorities must take steps on the pattern of Maharashtra Govt which has implemented fine for violating the ban for the first offence or a three-month jail term or both. A press statement issued, the city is still full of plastic bags and there is not even a shadow of the doubt that the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) is conducting drives to implement the decision of the High Court directing the State Government to ban polythene but still the authorities failed to get rid of the problem. The one reason for this menace is that the civil society is not at all cooperating with the authorities. The shopkeepers still deliver their goods in these plastic bags. Mahajan further said that it's been more than five years since the state has put a blanket ban on the use and manufacture of polythene bags but the use of these is going on boldly all over the state which is a matter of Shame for both the general public as well as the authorities. |
