| NSS unit of GDC Bishnah starts SWSI | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 25: NSS unit of Govt. Degree College Bishnah started the Swachh Bharat Summer Internship-2018 at adopted panchayat Ratnal.
On the inaugural ceremony of the programme ,the premises of the Govt. Middle School Ratnal were cleaned by the interns from the college.
The Principal, Nodal officer, senior faculty including school admistration and Sarpanches, panches, Lambardar and local residents were present on the occasion.
In all, 4 teams of interns comprising 34 students from the college are participating in the internship. The inaugural function of the programme held at the Govt. Middle School Ratnal was presided over by the Principal of the college Prof K .S. Koushal .
The Nodal Officer of the College for the Summer Internship, Prof. Amit Kumar Sharma introduced the residents of the Panchayat about the concept and objective of the Swachh Bharat Summer Internship launched under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.
He informed the audience that the internship has been initiated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in association of the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation for involving the youth in the achievement of mission of the Swachh Bharat Mission that includes Open Defecation Free India by 2 October 2019, the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the proper waste management i.e., segregation of the waste into Biodegradable and Non-Biodegradable and the making available the safe drinking water to all.
Prof Preeti Dogra, HOD Environmental Science and NCC Officer of the college also spoke on the occasion and emphasized on residents to segregate the home waste into wet and dry. |
