Jammu, June 25: A meeting of the advisory group members of the J&K Chapter of the Jat Mahasabha was held at Golden Leaf Banquet Hall, Babliana Gangyal, Jammu under their chairman Ch. Manmohan Singh, President, All India Jat Mahasabha, Jammu & Kashmir to urge the Governor J&K to help their cause. Members of the JAT Biradari from Kathua to Mendhar participated and spoke elaborately about their problems and the ongoing apathy of the State Government towards them. The meeting deliberated mostly on the problems of the community members living in the border areas along the IB/LoC. It was noted with great concern that the state government including the Ex- Chief Minister promised 5 marala of land to those affected by cross border firing by Pakistan since nothing materialized. There was also a proposal to declare 8 km area from the border as disturbed zone (RBA) and provide 3% reservation for jobs and in educational institutes, but the proposal never saw the light of the day. There have been enormous losses of life and property due to Pakistan's unprovoked firing. The members requested for government paid insurance for their lives, crops, Animals, live stock and costly agricultural equipment. In one voice, they called upon the Governor NN Vohra to come to their rescue and help this ignored lot of nationalist society of Jammu Division. |
