BARAMULLA, June 25: A civilian was injured on Monday in firing by government forces after students hurled stones on a BSF convoy in Rafiabad area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district. According to reports, Abid Manzoor lone, son of Manzoor Ahmed Lone, a resident of Nadihal in Rafiabad area of Baramulla, received fire injury in a thigh during a stone pelting incident at Chakla in Baramulla. However, sources said that a group of students were protesting and had blocked the road in Rafiabad area, after which they hurled stones on BSF convoy that was travelling from Kupwara to Baramulla. The security vehicles were passing through the area and the protesting students hurled stones on it, after which the trooper fired some shots in self defence resulting in injuries to the student, sources said. It is also learnt that a group of students was protesting against the recent civilian killing in government forces firing in parts of Valley. Meanwhile a top BSF official while talking to media said that the agitated students hurled stones on BSF convoy and in self defence the security man fired gun shots resulting in injury to the student after which he was immediately shifted to Baramulla district hospital where from he was referred to Srinagar for specialized treatment. His condition is said to be stable, while as there was no other stone pelting in any parts of the district, said sources. |
