Karra skips crucial Cong meet in Srinagar | Govt formation | | Saahil Suhail
Early Times Report
Anantnag, July 3: Tariq Hameed Karra, a founding member of the PDP who revolted against the party in 2016 for allying with the BJP and then joined Congress, on Tuesday didn't turn up to attend a crucial meeting in Srinagar. "Our meeting is still going on. Tariq Karra didn't attend the meeting," Congress spokesperson Farooq Indrabi told Early Times. Indrabi said that Karra was also invited to attend the meeting conveyed by Congress state president Ghulam Ahmad Mir. In-charge Jammu and Kashmir Pardesh Congress Committee Amibak Soni chaired the meeting which was also attended by senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Saif-ud-Din Soz. Over hundred leaders including legislators, former legislators and other party functionaries attended the meeting that Congress had called to discuss 'future course of action'. In-charge Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee Ambika Soni, after attending a meeting, chaired by former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Monday, had said that Congress wants resumption of political process in J&K. But she denied reports that it was going to form government in the state with Mehbooba Mufti led PDP. A Congress leader, wishing not to named, told Early Times that Karra hadn't attended a single meeting since joining Congress. He said that rumours and reports related to government formation had unnerved Karra. Now, after some PDP legislators turned mutineers, the Congress leader claimed that BJP, with the help of some PDP legislators, will form the government in Jammu and Kashmir after Amarnath Yatra concludes. Karra has said that he will be the first person to oppose PDP-Congress tie-up and will not allow Congress party to board a sinking boat which not only betrayed people but have "blood stains of hundreds and thousands of innocent people of Kashmir all over them." "Our seniors leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad has already dismissed these rumours and media reports. So what compelled him (Karra) to issue threats," said the Congress leader. He claimed that Karra was holding public conventions and never flashed a Congress flag or hoarding of party's senior leaders at the venue. "We learnt that he directed his workers not to install Congress banners, hoardings and party flags at the venue. So what is the message in it?" he said, adding Karra's statement exposes the fact that he is feeling insecure. |
